KS Senate Bill 98, recently passed, allows for 20-year sales tax exceptions for some data center companies and Monarch and NextEra have purchased property in Sedgwick County. However, there are no pending applications. Residents are encouraged to fill out a survey.

Town Hall Meetings

Board Information

Notes by Sharon Ailslieger

Around 300 residents, and some say closer to 700, almost all in opposition, attended the town hall regarding data centers. They opposed data centers on environmental, infrastructure, quality of life, and economic grounds. Proponents cited the economic benefits that, with proper planning, could arise.
