The executive of Second Light and president of the Wichita firefighters' union spoke in favor of the one percent sales tax as it would devote $150 million to homelessness efforts and $132.5 million for Wichita Fire Department capital needs such as new engines and stations.

Representatives of Wichita Forward shared that they believe their proposed 1 percent sales tax would generate around $850 million over a seven-year period. They expect revenue to fund public safety ($225) and homelessness initiatives ($150), among others.

The Open House featured a talk by Jeff Speck, who discussed making Wichita more walkable. Suggestions included redesigning Douglas, converting one-way streets to two-way, narrowing lanes, adding bike lanes, changing signals to signs, and increasing housing to enhance walkability.
